Satellite Office Initiative by the Kyoto Center for Community Collaboration
The Kyoto Center for Community Collaboration (commonly known as "Machi-Sen") is a public interest incorporated foundation dedicated to landscape and community development in Kyoto City. To broaden awareness of its activities and make its services more accessible, the center operates satellite offices in various regions, serving as temporary outreach bases outside its main office located on the first basement floor of "Hitomachi Koryu Kan Kyoto" in Shimogyo Ward.
The primary objectives of these satellite offices include promoting the center's initiatives through information dissemination events such as exhibitions and seminars, as well as community exchange events targeting local residents. Additionally, the satellite offices establish accessible consultation windows for matters related to traditional townhouses ("machiya") and general community development. Services include on-site consultations and the organization of consultation meetings. Furthermore, the center offers ongoing support for local community development projects, addressing questions and providing advice on various initiatives.
Past satellite office activities include the "Souzou no Machi Kamigyo" (Creative Town Kamigyo) project in fiscal year 2015, featured in the 74th issue of "Kyomachi Kobo," and a similar project in fiscal year 2009, as well as a satellite office at the former Nishi Jin Elementary School in fiscal year 2008, detailed in the 45th issue of "Kyomachi Kobo." The center invites residents to reach out with any questions or ideas about community development.
