Tenmon Bridge: Toyama's Illuminated Bridge of Love
Tenmon Bridge is a striking pedestrian bridge located in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, connecting two observation towers within the scenic Fugan Unga Kansui Park. Completed in 1999, the bridge spans 58 meters and features a unique structure combining a center bridge girder design with side bridge truss elements. It serves as a prominent symbol of the park, which was developed to make the most of the natural surroundings and the Fugan Canal waterway.
The bridge offers expansive views over the park and, on clear days, the majestic Tateyama Mountain Range can be seen in the distance. A highlight of the structure is the 58-meter-long "Red String Telephone" installed between the two observation towers. This feature has become a popular spot for love confessions and romantic dates, though it is suspended during the winter months from December through March. The bridge is also known for its beautiful nighttime illumination, which enhances its elegant silhouette against the night sky.
