An Organic Farming Experience Plot in Motobu, Okinawa
As detailed in the agent's notes, the company has long wanted to start farming and is beginning with an 'Agricultural Experience Farm' for those who may not know where to start. The concept invites participants to grow the vegetables they eat themselves. Two plot sizes are available: a 17.5㎡ plot for a monthly fee of 4,400 yen, and a 28㎡ plot for 6,600 yen. These are exclusive organic farming plots, with tool rental included, and are operated under the guidance of organic and natural farming experts, Mr. Agena from the MOA Ogimi Farm and the members of Deji Haru.
The company states this is a small first step, driven by a single reason: "We want to leave behind sustainable and safe agriculture for the next generation." They critique a mass-production and mass-consumption society that forces both producers and consumers to choose based solely on price. The initiative aims to move away from this model, focusing instead on growing vegetables for loved ones and local community members, and building a visible, face-to-face local society. The goal is a circular society, starting by learning farming methods together and eventually nurturing individuals who can become self-reliant through agriculture. Both individuals and companies are welcome to participate.
The plot is located in the Bise area of Motobu Town, a region famed for its crystal-clear waters, mangrove forests, and traditional Okinawan houses. A major nearby tourist attraction is the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, one of the largest and most impressive aquariums in the world, located just a short drive away in the Ocean Expo Park. The area is part of the Yanbaru region, known for its rich biodiversity and subtropical forests.
