Fudo Shimizu Spring in Ten-ei Village
Located in the Osato Kaiyachi area of Ten-ei Village, Iwase District, Fukushima Prefecture, Fudo Shimizu is a natural spring with a history tied to the legendary monk Kobo Daishi, who is said to have discovered it. The spring is reputed to be effective for eye ailments, a characteristic that has been passed down through local tradition.
The spring itself is enclosed by stone walls, and fine gravel has been spread across its bed. The surrounding area is notable for being a natural habitat of Byakkoy, a plant species designated as a prefectural natural monument. Water quality testing is conducted twice annually at this site.
