Mountain Retreat in Tenryu-ku, Hamamatsu
This property is a mountain lodge-style vacation home situated on a spacious lot of approximately 300 tsubo (about 1,068 square meters). Located at the eastern edge of Haruno-cho in Tenryu-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, it sits on a ridge-like highland between the Sugigawa and Kumakirigawa rivers, which are tributaries of the Keta River. The property is positioned at the top of the entrance to "Tentegu-mura," a secluded village hidden deep within a serene and beautiful forest.
The house features a large, two-story-high atrium with a 10-tatami mat loft space. At the center of the main room is a prominent wood-burning stove, and the adjacent room is equipped with a large sunken hearth (irori). The interior and exterior are finished in wood and are in very clean condition. The kitchen and boiler have been replaced with new units. Under the floor is a sturdy reinforced concrete storage room. Water is supplied from the resort area's water system, but because the intake stream can freeze in midwinter, a separate 300-liter poly tank and pump have been installed.
There are no neighboring houses for several kilometers, and the starry sky is close at hand at this elevation of over 600 meters. Even in midsummer, the location remains cool, making it ideal for a weekend resort lifestyle. It is approximately a one-hour drive from central Tenryu-ku, and access is also possible from the Kawane area.
