Yakushima Traditional Japanese Villa
This unique retreat facility is a traditional Japanese villa located in the serene coastal area of Hirauchi on Yakushima, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The property consists of three distinct buildings constructed using traditional Japanese building techniques, including an Ishiba (stone foundation). The main structure features a 2F tatami hall measuring 37.53㎡, a teahouse/irori dining area on the first floor of 12.25㎡, and a copper deck of 12.25㎡. A separate bath-house with a biotoliet spans 16.56㎡, and a Master Cottage with its own teahouse/irori offers 23.04㎡ of space.
While interior photos highlight the room's features, the actual space is slightly smaller than it may appear. The expansive 2,070㎡ land provides ample space to create modern amenities, such as a new kitchen, to suit an owner's preferences. The property has been featured in architecture and design magazines for its unique and traditional building style. Currently, the tatami room offers a partial ocean view only on the southeast side due to the height of the trees. However, if desired, all the trees on the south side can be removed to create a stunning, expansive ocean view. From the Master Cottage, especially when sitting on the veranda or the floor, one can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, a small pond, and a beautiful garden. The current owner uses the property only occasionally.
The area is renowned for its natural beauty and hot springs. The property is conveniently located near several renowned hot springs: Hirauchi Kaichu Onsen is a 6-minute drive, Yudomari Onsen is 9 minutes by car, and Onoaida Onsen is 10 minutes away. Yakushima itself is famous for its ancient Yakusugi cedar trees, some over 1,000 to 7,000 years old, and offers a wide range of activities from trekking and sea exploration to relaxing in hot springs. This tranquil area, with its beautiful ocean views, is an exceptional location for those seeking both privacy and immersion in a pristine natural environment.
