A Home in the Vast Hokkaido Landscape
The surrounding Tokachi region is renowned for its agricultural output, particularly its high-quality potatoes and dairy. An interesting local fact is that the area experiences some of the most dramatic temperature variations in Japan, with hot summers and extremely cold, snowy winters. The closest major landmark is the majestic Lake Akan, a volcanic caldera lake approximately 80 kilometers away, famous for its marimo (spherical algae) and Ainu cultural heritage.
