How to Use Your Saved Properties List on Akiya Japan

A complete guide to the Saved Properties feature: saving listings, organising your shortlist with tabs, search, and filters, sharing with agents, and exporting to CSV.

Finding the right property in Japan takes time. Most buyers spend weeks or months browsing, revisiting listings, comparing options across different prefectures. The Saved Properties feature exists to make that process less chaotic — a personal shortlist that follows you through the search, organised the way you need it.

This guide covers everything on the page at /user/saved: how to save listings, how to filter and sort your list, sharing it with agents, and exporting your data.

Saving a Property

Every property listing on Akiya Japan has a heart icon in the top-right corner of its photo. Click it once to save the property; click again to remove it. The icon fills red when saved.

You do not need a subscription to save properties — any registered user can save as many listings as they want. Viewing and managing your saved list requires an active subscription, but the saves themselves are preserved whether your subscription is active or not. If you cancel and later resubscribe, your list is still there.

Saves are tied to your account, not your browser. They persist across devices and sessions.

Organising Your List

Your saved list has four tabs across the top: Buy, Rent, Sold, and All. The Buy tab is the default. If you have saved a mix of property types, the tabs keep them cleanly separated.

The Sold tab is worth checking periodically. Properties you saved that have since gone off the market are preserved here — useful for understanding price points in areas you have been tracking, even if those specific listings are no longer available. A counter below the page title shows how many saved properties are no longer active.

Search and Sort

The search bar filters your list by title, prefecture, city, or municipality. If you have saved properties across multiple regions and want to focus on one area, type the prefecture name and the list narrows instantly.

The sort dropdown offers ten options:

  • Recently Saved — default; shows what you saved most recently
  • Newest Properties / Oldest Properties — by listing date on Akiya Japan
  • Price: Low to High / High to Low
  • Title: A to Z / Z to A
  • Prefecture: A to Z / Z to A — useful for grouping by region
  • Size: Largest First / Smallest First — sorts by floor area when available, falls back to land size

Advanced Filters

Click the Filters button to reveal three additional controls: prefecture dropdown, minimum price, and maximum price. The prefecture dropdown only shows prefectures present in your current list — if you have only saved properties in Nagano and Yamanashi, those are the only options.

Active filters show a count badge on the Filters button. Use Clear All to reset everything at once.

Grid and Table Views

The toolbar includes two view modes. Grid view shows photo cards — the same format as the main search results, with image gallery, price, and key specs visible at a glance. Table view displays all properties in rows with columns for price, type, bedrooms, land size, floor area, and nearest convenience store.

Table view is better for side-by-side comparison. If you have shortlisted eight properties and want to compare land sizes and prices systematically, the table layout is cleaner than scanning individual cards.

The view mode toggle is visible on wider screens; on mobile the list defaults to grid view.

Sharing with Agents

The Share button generates a unique link to your saved list. Anyone with the link can view the properties you have saved — no login required, no subscription needed on their end. The link is read-only; they cannot modify your list.

This is designed for sharing with real estate agents or buying assistants. Instead of describing properties over email, you send the link and the agent sees exactly what you are considering, with photos, prices, and locations all in one place.

If you want to revoke access — for example, if you shared with an agent whose services you are no longer using — click New Link inside the share panel. This generates a fresh URL and invalidates the old one immediately.

Exporting to CSV

The Export CSV button downloads your current filtered list as a spreadsheet. The file includes title, price, prefecture, city, municipality, house size, land size, bedrooms, and listing date for each property.

The export respects whatever filters are currently active. If you have filtered to properties under five million yen in Nagano, the CSV contains only those. To export everything, clear the filters first.

The CSV is useful for tracking properties in your own spreadsheet, sharing with a partner or family member who prefers a file over a web link, or archiving a snapshot of your shortlist at a specific point in the search process.

Saved Searches

The Saved Searches tab in the top navigation leads to a separate page at /user/saved-searches. Saved searches are distinct from saved properties: they store a search query and send email alerts when new listings match your criteria.

To save a search, run a search on the main listings page and click "Save this search" in the results toolbar. You can save multiple searches covering different regions, price ranges, or property types, and receive separate alerts for each. Alerts fire once per day when new matching properties appear.

Properties No Longer Listed

When a property you have saved is taken off the market, it does not disappear from your list. A note below the page title shows how many saved properties are no longer active. These remain accessible via the Sold tab or the All tab.

This is intentional. Withdrawn or sold properties are useful reference points — they tell you what was available at a given price in a given area, even if those specific listings are gone. The price and location data stay visible for comparison purposes as your search continues.
